IPTC INFO
CaptionABADÁ-Capoeira San Francisco ACSF is proud to announce Jogos 2004 Capoeira Competition and Batizado.***** Mestre Camisa aims to preserve the game of capoeira as a conversation between two people and therefore both players receive the same number of points for the game that is played. However if one person plays off the rhythm lacks control has bad technique or does not play according to the characteristics of the rhythm points are deducted from that individual's score. In inventing this system of competition Mestre Camisa's objective is to enhance the recognition for capoeira and bring it to a more professional level as a sport and an art. The Batizado or "baptism " will be held on Saturday November 6th from 4-7pm. The batizado is a traditional capoeira ceremony in which new students are initiated into the world of capoeira. The new student receives a capoeira nickname and plays with a Master or instructor symbolically welcoming them into the capoeira community.
