| IPTC INFO | | Caption | Our aim is to encourage all age groups with disabilities as well as able-bodied members of the community to participate in Europe's largest street festial; The Notting Hill Carnival. We indended to focus on culture history and tradition from a global perespective. Inspiring us in creating costumes as a way to encourage our members to assist in the production os Mas making. This will ehlpe them to learn and develop new skills within this core group of the community and also enabling them to gain an understanding in the art of masquerading in full costume while expressing their own individuality. In August 2004 B-DARK InspirationS made its first appearance at the 40th Anniversary of the Notting Hill Carnival with a following of over 200 Masqueraders people in full costume. _______________ The Black Disabled Achievers group in south London is popular with black adults with learning disabilities. Crucially it helps them to explore their cultural identity. The main aim of the Black Disabled Disabled group B.D.A. is to enable Black African Caribbean adults with learning disabilities living in south London borough of Lambeth to come together as a group for mutual support. We hope being in the group will raise members' confidence and self-esteem and help to identify their support needs. We support group members to make choices take control of their lives and encourage them to speak up for themselves.
